Cruise passengers arriving at the Port of Cromarty Firth will now receive a printed map encouraging them to discover the shops, sights and local character of Invergordon.
More than 150,000 people are expected at the Port across 2025 as Invergordon once again becomes a gateway to the Scottish Highlands for seaborne tourists.
Many of the visitors join tours heading south to Inverness and Loch Ness. But there is a lot to see in Invergordon itself – and the Port is keen to highlight that.
The new maps, handed out as visitors disembark, showcase the town’s independent shops, cafes and attractions, all within easy walking distance.
From the vibrant mural trail and the community-run Invergordon Museum to the friendly local businesses lining the High Street, the initiative aims to help visitors experience the town’s character and charm firsthand.
Joanne Allday, Head of Strategy and Business Development at the Port of Cromarty Firth, said: “Cruise tourism brings a valuable economic boost to the area and we want to ensure that visitors feel confident and excited to explore our local community.
“By giving them a simple, clear guide to what’s nearby, we’re connecting them with the brilliant local businesses that make this place so special.”
The initiative has been welcomed by local business owners, many of whom see a major increase in footfall during the cruise season.
There have been 60,000 copies of the map printed, with the cost of producing and distributing them covered by the Port of Cromarty Firth.
100 cruise ships are scheduled to call at the Port this year, with the season drawing to a close on October 29.
